Bertens wist direct na afloop even geen antwoord te verzinnen op de vraag wat het geheim is van haar historische opmars op het Franse grandslamtoernooi. ,,Dat weet ik niet, ik heb echt geen idee. Ik doe er alles voor om zo goed mogelijk te spelen, ik vecht voor elk punt en voorlopig levert dat alleen maar overwinningen op. Als het eenmaal loopt bij mij, dan heb ik vertrouwen, dan gaat het vanzelf en dan is het ook rustig in mijn hoofd. Dat laatste is wel het belangrijkste, denk ik.''
